2.1 General

GUIDE NOTE: Australian indigenous blackbutt or spotted gum timber species to be used and all timber to be certified by the Australian Forestry Standard under AS4708 “Sustainable Forestry Management” and AS4707 “Chain of Custody” or, certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council. All with due regard to suitability of use and location in preference to imported timber species, in accordance with government policy.

Termite resistance
One of the following alternative termite resistant timber species or preservative-treated timbers- is to be used for suspended timber floor framing.

Naturally termite resistant timbers to 3660.1 Appendix C
Preservative treated timber to the applicable hazard class to AS1604.1.

One of the following termite resistant timber species is to be used for timber floor joists on slabs.

Naturally termite resistant Australian hardwood timbers to 3660.1 Appendix C
Australian native softwoods – Cypress (Australian) to 3660.1 Appendix C
