3.1 Stormwater Drains

Location - Concealed and/or encased downpipes to be avoided in all DoE facilities unless a prior approval is obtained.

GUIDE NOTE: Delete subclause "Downpipe Connections" nominated in NATSPEC Building Template and include the following:

Downpipe connections:

Turn up the drain branch pipeline with a suitable bend in direct line with the downpipe. Leave space between pipe collar and bottom of downpipe as shown on drawings.Downpipe to ensure effectiveness of water flow diversion into the drain

GUIDE NOTE: Downpipes are to finish above the collar of the stormwater pipe. Collar to finish a min. Of 100mm below floor level, and be fitted with a grate, which cannot be removed by unauthorised personnel. Collar to be protected from mechanical damage. Consider possible splashing/flooding of surrounding areas.

Protection, pipe collar: Encase in a proprietary precast concrete surround with a dish drain incorporated as shown on drawings.

Dish diameter: 300mm.

Minimum dish depth: 50mm around grate.

Grate installation: Prevent movement from unauthorised personnel.
