BUILDING COMMUNICATION ROOM

The Building Communications Room is a dedicated room that contains the buildings network, security and telephony equipment.

Each building will require a minimum of 1 or more depending on the building size, layout, floors and cable pathway lengths. Multistory buildings will require, at minimum, 1 per floor.

This space is primarily used by ITD and school staff responsible for school network and accommodates the building and floor distributor cabinets.

Room Relationships

This space is found in the Services . This room should be centrally located and secured.This room should be physically located to reduce cable pathway lengths and near building risers.

Maximum fixed cable pathway length is 90M, Use 70M radius as approximate working guide for cable coverage.To be located in a secure location with no external or student access.
